Energy industry drives CO2 reduction forward

Berlin - According to a study by the Agora Energiewende think tank, Germany will emit three per cent less greenhouse gases in 2024 than in the previous year. The study identifies effects in the energy industry as the main cause. However, the carbon footprints of the transport, buildings and industry sectors still have room for improvement.

Reallocations determine H2 core grid 2025

Berlin - The first 525 kilometres of the hydrogen core network, which are due to go into operation as early as 2025, are largely conversion measures. In total, they are expected to cost over 460 million euros.

Eighth cooperation: 50 Hertz focusses on sector coupling

Leipzig - When the sun is shining and the wind is blowing, there is a risk that the grids will be overloaded. Green electricity plants are therefore often curtailed. The transmission system operator 50 Hertz prefers to utilise such surplus electricity in power-to-heat plants to generate "green" district heating. One such plant has now gone into operation in Leipzig.
