Northern Germany advances geothermal projects

Hanover - Geothermal energy is set to play an important role in heat supply in northern Germany. The Federal-State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology has now taken this into account and granted initial exploration licences for 33 projects. Among others, Norddeutsche Erdwärme Gewinnungsgesellschaft has reason to be pleased. However, the company has cancelled another project.

RWE launches second enquiry for hydrogen storage requirements

Essen - RWE Gas Storage West plans to put the first commercial hydrogen storage facility into operation in 2027. Around 70 per cent of the storage facility's capacity has already been allocated. The operator is now launching a market enquiry for the remaining 30 per cent.
