Federal Council casts doubt on combustion engine phase-out and fleet limits
Berlin - The Federal Council is calling on the German government to lobby at EU level to review the planned phase-out of combustion engines from 2035 ahead of schedule and to suspend the imminent tightening of CO2 fleet limits for the time being. Both are intended to ease the burden on the ailing German car industry.

Bundestag changes gas storage levy
Berlin - In its last session in 2024, the Bundestag has decided on changes to the controversial gas storage levy. In future, this will no longer be levied on cross-border deliveries, which countries such as Austria had demanded. The FDP now sees discrimination against nationals.
